But in the end, nothing is free. Credit card merchants must pay the card companies 3% of their sales conducted with credit cards. And card companies don’t want retailers to charge card holders extra money to offset their costs, as it might discourage the use of their credit cards. Altogether, this begs the question, So, why do merchants accept credit cards in the first place if they have to pay? The answer is simple: because people spend more when they use credit cards. In fact, research shows that people who use credit cards spend 23% more than cash customers. Having to give 3 percent of their profits to the card companies is nothing in comparison to the significant extra dollars a credit card holder spends.

If you wrote this speech, it sounds great. What is the age group you will be presenting this to? If it is to age 13 and under, you may want to Spark notes it. Otherwise, keep it as is. You were succinct and to the point. (You could always show the Garfield cartoon where Jon tries to use cash instead of a credit card and everyone freaks out if you want to add humor).

Headline: Aussies angry over credit card rates
Over eighty per cent of people surveyed were upset the recent series of Reserve Bank interest rate cuts were not passed on to credit cards, according to Credit Card Finder (http://www.creditcardfinder.com.au).
More than half are calling for the Australian Government to create a ‘people’s bank’ to rival the big four banks.
Credit card debt in Australia has reached an all-time high of 42 billion dollars.
But half of those surveyed say that they hardly ever have problems because they always pay off their balance in full.
Most people still apply to their existing bank for a credit card, with only six per cent using comparison sites.

im 17 years old and i feel that i have it easy in comparison to adults
paying taxes/bills/working/putting food on the table etc
i dont think ill be able to manage
were you like me and manage now?
i still dont underantd how adults live their life e.g. i dont get how taxes work, shares, credit cards
i dont know
Not for me! because as an adult I have more control over my life.
But I think it depends what kind of life you had as a child/teenager.
Dont worry, I doubt you will one day suddenly have to understand and do everything on your own. If you have supportive parents you can take gradual steps towards independence. If it makes you feel better I dont get how shares work even now and I dont use credit cards. Its a shame living life has to be such a complicated business, but if youre enjoying life now make the most of it!
